Mitzi Miller
Storyteller. Producer. Survivor.
The Joy Ambassador
Mitzi Miller is a best-selling author, award-nominated podcast host, veteran magazine editor, and accomplished TV and film executive whose career has been defined by bold storytelling, boundary-pushing leadership, and a deep commitment to cultural authenticity.
Most recently, she served as Vice President of Scripted Drama Development at Warner Bros. Television Studios, where she guided creative development for acclaimed talents such as Oscar-winner Cord Jefferson and Emmy-winner Greg Berlanti. Prior to that, Mitzi was Head of Development at Rainforest Entertainment, where she produced a slate of standout projects, including the hit BET drama series The Quad. Her producing credits also include several original BET movies like Friend Request and Holiday Heist as well as the Amazon Prime TV series, Hush.
Before making her mark in Hollywood, Mitzi had a celebrated career in publishing. She served as editor-in-chief of both EBONY and JET, making history as the first woman—and only the second person ever—to lead both historic African American publications. Her editorial vision modernized the brands and amplified Black voices across generations.
Beyond the page and screen, Mitzi is a passionate communicator and cultural thought leader. She has delivered keynote speeches at colleges and conferences nationwide and provided commentary on various talk shows on ABC, CNN, & MSNBC. She is also the former host of 70 Million, a Peabody Award-nominated podcast exploring criminal justice reform across the U.S., which ran for five powerful seasons.
Mitzi’s work has earned her a number of honors, including being named to Crain’s Chicago Business “40 Under 40” and The Root 100 list in both 2013 and 2014. She is also a proud inductee of the Florida A&M University Alumni Gallery of Distinction.
A Connecticut native, Mitzi has co-authored five acclaimed books: The Angry Black Woman’s Guide to Life, The Vow: A Novel, and the Hotlanta YA series. Two of her titles have been adapted into successful television movies—With This Ring (Lifetime, 2015) and Angrily Ever After (BET, 2019).
Today, Mitzi is in a deeply personal and transformational new chapter. After surviving her second life-threatening health crisis, she’s shifted her focus inward, reclaiming joy and authenticity as essential to the next phase of her journey. Her story is now one of healing and heart: a powerful testament to the beauty of living life on your own terms.
Let’s Do This Together
The journey to authentic joy begins with a bold, intentional choice—to surround ourselves with people, projects, and opportunities that breathe life into our spirit and create moments that truly matter.
I am committed to connecting with women and men who are ready to embrace a new way of being, and reclaim joy as a birthright—not a reward. Together, we can create new projects and experiences as we lean fully into lives rooted in truth, purpose, and radical fulfillment. The time to begin isn’t someday—it’s now.
